The Hungarian Nuclear Society
The Hungarian Nuclear Society considers its public utility tasks as consisting of development of nuclear culture and promotion of peaceful use of nuclear technologies to ensure that they are utilized with due skills and responsibilities in a controlled manner; hence these methods do not jeopardize the human health and living conditions, but rather improve it. The society works for advancing that the new opportunities revealed by nuclear research contribute to the protection of the environment and the improvement of level of living to a greater extent. Promote the safe and environmental friendly utilization of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation
Establish a professional atmosphere for nuclear professionals
Promote the education corresponding to nuclear technologies, departing from the primary and secondary schools through the higher education encompassing adult education
Inform the public through the electronic, printed and other media and forums
Take steps against the misuse of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation, which may endanger the society
Contribute, as professional civil organization, to the development of the regulatory system of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation
Represent the domestic nuclear profession on international level
The Society has established several awards to recognize the work of scientists, researchers, teachers and professors in promoting, developing and teaching nuclear culture.
The Hungarian Nuclear Society has been the member of the European Nuclear Society and has been taking part in the international scientific life since 1991.
Last year it was the eleventh occasion to organize the Nuclear Technical Symposium of great success, which provides a Hungarian language professional forum both for the young and experienced researchers.
Members of the Society may be that natural person of age 18 or more or legal entity who/which accepts the goals and Fundamental Rules of the Society. The admission of a member is decided by the Board based on his/her/its application. The Society was registered by the Metropolitan Court under the number 3221 in 1991, and was qualified as of public utility by the Court decision numbered 16.Pk64.349/1990/23.

Since 2008 the membership fee of the Society has been 2000 HUF (there is a discounted fee for students and pensioners: 1000 HUF).
